I (Dee) recently had a check-ride on G-BACB (Seneca 1) from Southend with Tony Gunn of Flywatch Ltd

He was interested in short field practice and so at Tony' suggestion we visited Great Oakley.

The field is owned/operated by Tim Spurge and his family - strictly PPR

Great Oakley is 3.5nm SW of Harwich or 4nm on 020 radial from Clacton VOR

For GPS: N5154.00  E00110.30

Tim has just completed construction of a new 'clubhouse' for residents and visitors to the field.

The landing fee is £5 and its definitely worth stopping for a coffee (£1 per cup, but all you can drink!)

I visited again whilst on another checkride ( G-MEAH: Arrow II ) and will definitely revisit this GA friendly field.
